Jeanette Neisuler, 91
30 years ago, Jeanette transformed the overwhelming sadness, confusion, and isolation she experienced with the passing of her husband into motivation. Recognizing the gap that existed in local bereavement programs, Jeanette was inspired to initiate social change herself. With the conviction that everyone needs and deserves support and guidance in coping with the death of a loved one, Jeanette founded the Haven Grief Counseling Center, in Schenectady, NY.
"Mourning by yourself is like crying in the wilderness, you need to have someone to listen to you." As much as she wanted to satisfy her own needs, Jeanette sought to build a community space for those that were experiencing similar feelings of despair. "Haven saved my sanity."
Today, at 92, Jeanette is still involved with the center. After years of compassion and dedication she is able to witness the incredible impact of her vision.

Margaret Moschak, 75
Margaret resolved to live a busy and contented life after the death of her husband. She was happy to sit back and enjoy what she had. Until, during a discussion with friends, she found a renewed commitment to "interact with and be excited about life!"
Ten years later, at 74, Margaret practices Tai Chi, writes, and enjoys a rich, loving relationship she once thought impossible. She and her new partner have built a beautiful home with their own hands in Ithaca, NY. Together, they continue to cultivate a strong and active environment, living each moment to its absolute fullest.
"When we are together it is very, very good. There is a contentment."
